Miroir grows: First Mining stacks another 100 gram-meter hole at Duparquet
Two ~100 gram-meter intercepts stretch the Miroir discovery to about 220m of strike as the stock more than doubles in three months.
First Mining Gold pulled two solid holes out of the Miroir zone at its Duparquet project in Quebec’s Abitibi belt. The headline hole, DUP26-093, cut 19.55 meters grading 5.26 grams of gold per tonne — a bit over a fifth of an ounce packed into every tonne of rock — including a richer 12.95 meters at 7.58 g/t. A second hole, DUP26-096, returned 28.0 meters at 3.43 g/t from deeper down. Two more holes added shorter, thinner intercepts: 15.8 meters at 3.36 g/t near surface, and 5.0 meters at 3.33 g/t on the western flank. Miroir is a zone First Mining first found in 2024. These holes push it out east and west, stretching the known strike from roughly 150 meters to about 220 meters.
Here is the gram-meter logic — grade multiplied by width, the quick measure of how much metal a hole actually carries. DUP26-093 scores about 103 gram-meters and DUP26-096 about 96. Anything near 100 is a real hole, and getting two of them, plus consistent grades across four holes, matters more than one lucky hit. It also matters that these 3-to-5 gram grades sit well above Duparquet’s existing 1.55 g/t resource, so this ground could add incremental higher-grade ounces to a project that already carries 3.44 million measured-and-indicated ounces plus 2.64 million inferred. Running the company is Dan Wilton, a mining financier who backed the Aurizona gold project through permitting at Pacific Road; the firm was founded by Keith Neumeyer of First Majestic Silver. The stock has done its own thing lately — FF.TO climbed 124.1% over three months while the junior gold index rose 32.1% and gold itself moved only 6.8%. That gap is roughly four times the peer index, a company-specific re-rating the sector tailwind can’t explain.
Now the honest part. True widths are explicitly not yet determined — the company says the zone’s geometry is still under evaluation, so these reported lengths are drilled core lengths and may overstate the real thickness of the rock. DUP26-096, the 28-meter intercept, still has 12 samples pending, so that number is provisional. No cut-off grade was disclosed, and the qualified person, Caroline Pienaar, is an employee rather than independent. Miroir is a satellite target inside a large PEA-stage project, and the 2022 resource estimate hasn’t yet been updated for the roughly 48,000 meters drilled since. To watch: more Miroir assays including that pending hole, completion of the 15,000-meter program into Q4 2026, and the updated Duparquet resource — timing not stated.
