Crater Lake drilling confirms the scandium is where the model said

Scandium Canada hits 124.9 m at 232 ppm scandium oxide from near surface, and maps a ~3 km magnetic corridor to chase next.

Scandium Canada, drilling its Crater Lake project in Nunavik, northern Québec, reported a hole that cut 124.9 metres grading 232 parts per million scandium oxide — mineralization starting as shallow as 7.3 metres below surface. The company also mapped a favourable magnetic corridor of nearly 3 kilometres using a drone survey, and it says the grades it hit line up with its existing 2025 resource. Note the unit: scandium is measured in parts per million, not grams per tonne, because this is a bulk-tonnage metal you mine by the truckload rather than the ounce.

Here is the honest reading. A 232 ppm intercept converts to 0.232 grams per tonne scandium oxide, and dressing it up in the gram-meter math built for gold would flatter it — that logic does not transfer to a metal priced by ppm. So this is not a new discovery. It is confirmation: the rock came in consistent with the resource model, near surface, over good downhole length. That de-risks the path toward a bulk sample and an economic study without breaking any fresh grade ground. Analysts and industry observers typically weigh scandium projects on tonnage, consistency, and whether the metallurgy works — not on any single headline hole. Around the science, the corner office has changed hands. Simon Thibault, a former General Motors EV critical-materials buyer, became President & CEO on August 24, succeeding Guy Bourassa in a planned succession; Bourassa stays on the board as Strategic Advisor. Separately, co-founder Pierre Neatby resigned as President & COO effective August 21, three days earlier. The company raised C$17.25M in a March bought deal and C$5M in an August flow-through placement, issuing more than 103M new shares and units against a roughly C$68M market cap.

The caveats matter here. True width was not disclosed — the 124.9 m is core length reported downhole, so the actual zone thickness is likely thinner. The company gave no cut-off grade, no assay method, no lab name, and no qualified person in the text reviewed. Only the first holes were reported, so per-hole grades across the corridor are not public, and that 3 km corridor is a magnetic anomaly — inferred, not yet drilled or assayed. What to watch: chemical assays from 19 bulk-sample holes (about 3,400 m) drilled between June 26 and August 5 are still in progress, timing unstated. An updated resource estimate is targeted before the end of 2026, and a Preliminary Economic Assessment is to follow, built on that estimate.
