Viridian raises up to $1.0M as Kraken assays stay pending

A $0.45 unit placement funds the drill program and an IR budget, while the stock has moved sharply ahead of any assay numbers.

Viridian Metals is raising up to $1.0 million by selling units at $0.45 each in a private placement announced August 24. Each unit carries half a warrant, exercisable at $0.60 for 24 months. The money funds the company’s 2026 diamond drill program at its Kraken copper-nickel-cobalt project, plus a chunk earmarked for investor relations, corporate communications and “market awareness.” This is a capital-raise release, not a results release — there are no drill grades, widths or assays in it.

Here is why the timing is worth a note. Kraken is a 50-hole infill drill program — holes drilled between known holes to firm up what is there — running until November, aimed at eventually supporting an NI 43-101 resource estimate, the formal, independently-verified count of metal in the ground. None of that exists yet; the project sits at the drill-intercept stage with assays still pending. Meanwhile the stock has moved: VRDN.CN gained about 39% over three months while the base-metals peer index (XBM) rose 4% — a roughly 35-point gap the sector alone doesn’t explain. The chart shows a long grind near $0.50 then a jump to the $0.62–$0.67 range late in the period. Notably, this placement prices units at $0.45 — a step down from the $0.56 units sold nine months earlier in November 2025. CEO Tyrell Sutherland is a registered geologist whose most verifiable prior credit is a supporting role in the Pickle Crow acquisition for Auteco Minerals; he holds executive or advisory roles at several other junior companies at the same time.

What to watch is straightforward, and so are the caveats. The company flagged a first batch of 2026 assay results — including an extension of hole VKS25-024 and early program holes — in “coming weeks,” with more through November. Those numbers, not this financing, are what would speak to whether Kraken holds anything economic. Until then, no grades or widths have been disclosed, and no resource, deposit type or even jurisdiction is detailed in this release. Insiders may participate as a related-party transaction; the company is relying on MI 61-101 formal-valuation and minority-approval exemptions and did not file a material change report 21 days ahead as normally expected. And a meaningful share of the proceeds is heading to IR and awareness spending rather than into the ground.
